Privacy Policy & Data Protection

Last Updated: September 2026 Effective Date: September 1, 2026 Entity: buildproject.in

Our privacy commitment is simple: We protect your academic project ideas, never sell your data, and minimize data collection to what is strictly necessary to build and bench-test your hardware prototypes.

This Privacy Policy describes how buildproject.in (“we”, “our”, or “platform”) collects, handles, and safeguards personal details, technical problem statements, and browsing telemetry when you visit our website or communicate with our engineering team.

1. Overview & Commitment to Student Privacy

buildproject.in is an online hardware engineering consultation and prototyping platform based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. We work closely with final-year engineering students, postgraduate researchers, and independent electronics hobbyists.

We understand that university capstone projects, IEEE conference submissions, and dissertation topics often involve novel ideas and proprietary university coursework. We treat every conversation, research paper, schematic, and student contact detail as strictly confidential.

2. Information We Collect & Why

We only collect information when you voluntarily choose to contact us or interact with our interactive tools:

  • Consultation Communications: When you message our team on WhatsApp or send an email to [email protected], we receive your phone number, email address, name, and any project briefs, IEEE PDFs, or circuit constraints you share. This information is used exclusively to evaluate technical feasibility, estimate component costs, and coordinate project execution.
  • Shipping Details: For commissioned physical hardware prototypes, we collect your delivery recipient name, shipping address, PIN code, and contact phone number solely for booking courier dispatch via services such as DTDC or BlueDart.
  • Server Logs: Standard HTTP request logs (IP address, browser user-agent, referrers) generated by Cloudflare edge networks to prevent DDoS attacks and ensure uptime.

3. Live BOM Estimator & Client-Side Storage

Our interactive Bill of Materials Estimator (/cost-estimator/) runs entirely client-side in your web browser:

  • Your selected components, quantities, custom price overrides, and project notes are saved directly in your browser's localStorage.
  • We do not transmit your BOM selections to any external backend server or database unless you explicitly click the “Inquire via WhatsApp” button, which formats your selected parts list into a pre-filled direct message for our engineering team.
  • You can reset or wipe all saved component estimates at any time by clearing your browser cookies/storage or clicking the “Reset Estimator” control.

4. WhatsApp & Project Synopsis Confidentiality

When you share college guide feedback, problem statement synopses, block diagrams, or IEEE reference papers with our team:

  • Your technical files are accessible only to the active hardware engineers assigned to analyze and bench-test your system.
  • We do not publish your custom research problem statements or unique circuit schematics publicly without your written consent.
  • Sample portfolio projects showcased on our website feature generalized reference designs or projects with explicit client authorization.

5. Zero Third-Party Data Sale or Advertising

We operate under a strict anti-monetization policy for student data:

We have never sold, rented, leased, or traded student phone numbers, email addresses, college affiliations, or project requirements to third-party ad networks, telemetry brokers, academic project resellers, or marketing agencies. We will never do so in the future.

6. Google Analytics & Anonymous Telemetry

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with IP anonymization enabled to analyze aggregated visitor trends. This helps us identify popular hardware topics, measure page load speeds across Indian mobile networks, and optimize our engineering guides.

GA4 uses minimal first-party cookies to record aggregated metrics such as viewport width, session duration, and referral source. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information (PII) and cannot identify you individually. You can block analytics cookies via your browser settings or privacy extensions without impacting your ability to browse our site or use the BOM Estimator.

7. Cloud Infrastructure & Security Controls

We employ industry-grade technical and organizational safeguards to protect platform assets and communications:

  • End-to-End HTTPS/TLS: All connections to buildproject.in are encrypted using modern TLS 1.3 cryptographic ciphers with strict HSTS policies.
  • Edge Security: Content is served over Cloudflare's global CDN with DDoS mitigation, automatic bot filtering, and DNSSEC validation.
  • Access Controls: Administrative access to email servers, communication channels, and codebase repositories requires two-factor authentication (2FA).

8. Data Deletion & Privacy Rights

You retain full control over any information you share with us:

  • Right of Access: You can request a summary of the personal contact information or project notes we retain on file.
  • Right to Erasure: Following the completion and successful viva defense of your project, you may request that our team permanently delete your WhatsApp chat history, email records, and uploaded technical files from our communication archives.

9. Privacy Questions & Grievance Contact

For any privacy concerns, data deletion requests, or questions regarding our information practices, please reach out to our designated data contact:
